ARCOLA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Our  Mission:   As messengers of the word,

as doers of the Word, in Arcola and the World,

GO YE!

We often find ourselves in need of help of many kinds.  Sometimes it is inspirational help that we seek.

Sometimes it is comfort through reading or through an agency that can meet our needs.  We hope the

links on this page will help meet a need.  If not please contact Pastor Bruce or the church office.

To request that you or someone you know be put on a prayer chain, please contact one of our prayer team leader

http://www.cordlink.org/  This is a site that Sarah Bush Lincoln has put together which contains a list

of available services in this area and explains how to contact the agencies.  Once you go to the site,

you will see “search CORD” where you can find information in three ways.  If you are not sure what to type,

you may want to “browse” the names of the agencies.  That will bring up a complete list of all

agencies available and may give you an idea of an agency that can help you that you would not have

thought about using.  The second option lets you search alphabetically if you think you already know the

name of an agency.  last option lets you type in the name of the problem you are facing and press the enter key

on your keyboard.  The names of agencies that can help you will appear. In using the last option the

Key word search tips are very important.  They are printed here and are also on the CORD page.

Since CORD covers seven counties, be sure to include the county name when you search, e.g.:

·                    parenting skills Coles

·                    legal assistance Douglas

If you are searching for a phrase or a specific agency, enclose it in quotations marks, e.g.:

·                    "Salvation Army"

·                    "vocational training"

http://www.arcola-il.com/cspkr/index.html  is the site for the Lions Club of Arcola.  They can respond very

quickly to needs for hospital equipment for local residents.  They also have many other programs in place such

as their Christmas Basket program for Arcola families in need.

http://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/index.cfm  is the site for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a not for

profit organization that aids families whose baby or young infant dies or is stillborn by providing a CD video

that is professionally photographed and set to music.  This organization provides the service free of charge.

There is a photographer in the Arcola area who works with the agency to help families who experience such a loss.

You can locate a photographer by going to the website where a name and phone number will be furnished.
