Arcola UMC
The mission statement of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Arcola UMC takes this mission very seriously and is engaged in a variety of efforts to help those in need throughout the world.
Arcola United Methodist Church is a proud partner of the following efforts:
The Arcola Food Pantry: The AFP serves Arcola and the whole of Douglas County by offering food to those in need. Arcola UMC supports the AFP through donations, volunteer hours, and hosting fundraiser.
Imagine No Malaria: INM is the United Methodist Church's intiative to wipe out the deadly disease of malaria on the continent of Africa by 2015 through treatment, education, communication, and prevention. Arcola UMC is commited to raising $13,000 by 2015 to help with this intiative.
Peace Meals: Peace meals are delivered to seniors and shut-ins throughout Arcola. Arcola UMC regularly assists with the delivery.
Operation Shoebox: Every Christmas, Arcola UMC collects gifts to be sent to needy children throughout the world through Samaritan's Purse.
Mission Giving: Arcola UMC supports the Midwest Mission Distribution Center, the United Methodist Church in Liberia, United Methodist Missionary Support, and a variety of other agencies caring for people in need throughout the world.
These are just a small sampling of the projects that Arcola UMC is a part of through the work of the Outreach Committee, the many groups of our congregation, and the hard work and dedication of many of our members.
